Although Blackjack favours the dealer, there are a few simple things that you can do to ensure you play longer at the Blackjack table and minimize your losses. For more detailed strategies, please refer to our Blackjack Strategy charts.
- Always use Blackjack Basic Strategy. This is a proven mathematical method to help increase your chances of winning.
- Read the Blackjack rules of the casino before playing. Rules differ depending on the casino, especially where Splitting and Doubling are concerned. Don’t be surprised; be in the know.
- Don’t take Insurance (unless you are counting cards). Although the name indicates that a Player is being compensated for a bet, that isn’t the case. The Player will lose one way or another – either he will lose his Insurance bet if the dealer does NOT have Blackjack or he will lose his original bet if the dealer does have Blackjack.
- Don’t play over your bankroll. Before playing, a Player should always decide how much money he will bet with or how much money he is willing to lose in one session. Bet wisely so that you can minimize your losses and remain profitable in the long run.
- Stand on a Stiff hand if the dealer also has a stiff hand. A Stiff hand is one that can be busted if ‘Hit’ and contains usually 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16. Hit on a Stiff hand if the dealer has a pat hand. A Pat hand is one consisting of 17 or higher.
- When the Player has an A,2 or A,3 and the dealer has a 5 or 6, the Player should double his bet. When the Player has an A,2 or A,3 and the dealer is holding another card, the Player should ‘Hit’ his hand.
- The Player should Double down if he is holding a 10 against the dealer’s 9 or any card lower than 9. The Player should also double if he is holding any hand consisting of 11.
- Do not Split 5s, 10s or Face Cards. Split 7s or 8s if the dealer has cards of an equal or lesser value. Split 2s and 3s if the dealer is showing 4, 5, or 6. Split Aces at all times.
- Move to another table after 3 consecutive losses. Be mindful that you are playing for fun as well as for profits.
- Whether online or in a land-based casino, a Player should never drink and play or play when he is tired. Silly errors in judgement are most likely to be made at these times.
Follow these tips and you have a better shot at leaving the casino tables with more cash than you started with. Why not give it a shot at Roxy Palace Casino
